Home Dog Obedience Training

I would like to talk about a very important part of the home dog obedience training process. Whenever you are training a dog you have to remember that three things have to happen. In order for the training to be successful.

The first thing is that you have to have really good timing. Secondly you have to be consistent with your training and thirdly you have to make sure that you are properly motivating your dog. There are two forms of motivation that every dog responds to. These are simply either negative or positive motivation, both are very powerful when you are training your dog.

When it comes to positive motivation, you can use a lot of different things to train a dog. For example, if your dog has a strong desire to eat food, or likes to play tug of war or maybe enjoys chasing a stick. Your dog may also like being touched by you or simply going for a car ride. These are all things that motivate your dog. When a dog sees a car he wants to take a ride in and gets excited, before you open the door to let him into the car let him do his obedience.

So most of the time when you are working with your dog, instead of always using food to reward the dogs behavior, start using things in its everyday environment that it enjoys. You will start to see a better response from your dog when you mix these up as already suggested earlier.
